| Financial crunch hits Kishtwar Campus | | Director discusses issue with MLC | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Dec 5: Director Kishtwar Campus of Jammu University Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik Wednesday apprised MLC Syed Asgar Ali about various problems being faced by the students at the campus. The Director informed Asgar Ali that four important courses M. Sc IT, M.Sc. Geology (Hydrology & Soil Dynamics), MA Kashmiri and PGDCA were being run in the campus. He said that to run these courses more effectively, permanent positions of teaching as well as non teaching was needed and laboratory facilities needed to be upgraded. The Director also informed the MLC that grant-in-aid, which was being provided by the government to the Kishtwar Campus and other campuses has not been released yet as a result of which, they were facing financial crunch. Prof. Malik informed the MLC that though the land has been identified and notified for the campus but till date compensation to the owners of the land has not been provided by the govt. He further informed that government had not put several campuses in its plan or non plan budget because of which campuses were facing acute financial crunch. The MLC was also informed that if the grant-in-aid was not released within one month, the campus won't be in a position to provide salaries to its employees. Asgar Ali gave a patient hearing to the Director and informed him that he had already taken the issue in the house committee meeting. He assured that other problems related to the Kishtwar Campus and other campuses will be taken over with the government. He further informed the Director Kishtwar Campus that the House committee is going to submit a detail report regarding the campuses to the Pro-Chancellor and Chancellor of the Jammu University during schedule meeting which is going to be held on 17th December 2012. |
