| Five years RI, fine Rs 50,000 to accused in NDPS Act early times report | | | Jammu, Dec 5 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Mohd Akram Choudhary awarded five years imprisonment and fine Rs 50,000 to Bhupinder Singh S/O Harbans Singh Sarooch Rajput R/O Biaspur Tehsil R.S. Pura District Jammu in NDPS Case. According to the police case, on October 6, 2007 information was received at Police Station Banihal from reliable sources that a person namely Bhupinder Singh S/O Harbans Singh R/O Biaspur Tehsil R.S. Pura District Jammu who deals in drugs was traveling from Khannabal to Jammu in Tanker No. JK05-A/3599 with some consignment of cannabis and poppy straw. A case was registered for the commission of offences punishable under sections 8/15/20 NDPS Act and the SHO alongwith HC Abdul Rashid Bhat, Ct. Gulzar Ahmad, Follower Sher Singh and SPO Manshad Ahmad moved to Toll Post Banihal on NHW and the Ilaqa Magistrate was also taken along. After a wait of 15 minutes Tanker No. JK05-A/3599 came from Srinagar side which was being driven by one Dev Raj Sharma S/O Harihar Sharma R/O Village Kothi Ghari Tehsil and District Udhampur, accompanied by another person who got frightened on seeing Police. Nineteen pieces of cannabis was recovered from his socks which weighed 900 grams and poppy straw weighing 550 grams was recovered concealed on his abdomen. 50 grams of the contraband was sampled from each of the recovered items for chemical analysis. Contra-band and the vehicle alongwith documents were seized. Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Mohd Akram Choudhary awarded rigorous imprisonment for five years and fine Rs 50,000. JNF
