GMC Principal shames profession
Leaves poor girl to die for inability to afford private surgery, DC orders probe

Jammu, Dec 12: Tall claims of the Government to afford healthcare were exposed today when a 2 year old girl child died due to criminal greed and gluttony of a tainted senior doctor who is officiating as the principal of the GMC&H Jammu and inability of the Government to rope in arbitrariness of the Government doctors to pursue private practice against all norms and professional ethics.
Protests sparked in SMGS hospital after the death of a 2 year minor girl, daughter of Amar Chand of Doda who died for want of immediate surgery. According to reports, the girl was admitted on Friday last after a corn of maize got struck in her wind pipe and chocked her throat. Doctors recommended surgery, but nod of HoD was imperative. Parents of the deceased alleged that Dr. Choudhary asked them to visit his clinic at Residency Road and get the surgery done there under his supervision and demanded fees that they could not afford. "Despite our repeated requests, Dr. Choudhary did not agree to operate upon my daughter in the hospital and due to delay, the child died," said the father of the deceased child.
Taking strong cognizance of the incident, the DDC ordered probe and deputed ADC RS Sharma to hold probe and submit the reports as soon as possible. Pertinent to mention here that this is not the first time a protest against the Dr Choudhary was held.
"There have been several complaints of serious nature against him wherein he has insisted the patients to get surgeries done at his private clinic" said a senior doctor pleading anonymity. Similar protest was witnessed against him recently when he spoiled the career of a youth who was selected in Army by defacing his nose. Dr. Choudhary reportedly operated him at his private clinic and allegedly charged Rs 40,000 from him.
