| Parents allege loot by KC Public School | | CEO Jammu assures action on receipt of complaint | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 12: In what can be seen as brazen and open loot in the renowned Public Schools of Jammu, parents of wards studying in KC Public School have alleged harassment at the hands of school management by forcing them to pay huge amounts of money for unwarranted purposes to school. Harassed parents approached ET and said that they were being looted by school management for one or the other function under various pre texts this time for a so called Children's festival being organized by the School. Fresh in such series is that the management of KC Public School, Akhnoor Road, Muthi, Jammu has asked each student to pay Rs 1000 for making the School Fete 2012 a grand success. Each student has been allotted a book having 10 slips with the direction to cash them out. Parents alleged that since no body is interested to buy the slip, they are becoming soft targets. They further alleged that the matter was brought to the notice of school management but it did not pay any heed for apparent reasons. School management has set 13 December as last date for depositing Rs 1000 by each student. The school has strength of thousands of students and the amount so collected would go to crores of rupees which ultimately go to the account of school management from their pocket which costs extra burden on their pocket. However, it is a huge burden on the parents, particularly those who can not afford this amount or are not interested in participation of their children in the festival. When contacted to CEO Jammu Natha Ram, he said if parents felt harassment and loot from their pocket, they should lodge a complaint to him for appropriate action against school management. Pertinently, School is organizing School Fete 2012 on Sunday, Dec 23. To make the function impressive school management has thrown raffle draw having three lucrative prizes -Laptop, Washing Machine and Refrigerator and a Santro Car as Bumper Prize. It has become a fad in the public schools of Jammu to charge the students with unnecessary expenditures almost every next day which ultimately piches the pocket of the parents. While Parents out of fear of harassment to their children are hesitating to resist or lodge complaints, the spree of overcharging and unnecessary burden of expenditures on parents is also continuing due to lack of any action from the Education Department for this open loot. |
