Srinagar, Dec 22: Welcoming the Bedi Commission report which gave a clean chit to the Chief Minister in the death of NC worker Syed Mohammad Yousuf, Senior National Conference leader and Law Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar asserted those who politicized the issue have got the befitting reply and should be feeling ashamed. However, main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the family of deceased have rejected the report of Bedi Commission.
"Those who leveled baseless allegations against Omar Sahib would be now feeling ashamed. The state Government appointed one of the prominent and honest Judges of the country to investigate the matter after the allegations were made. PDP should feel ashamed that it is pointing fingers at an honest Judge's report to extend politics on the issue", said Sagar while talking to KNS.
"It (PDP) has been politicizing every issue from the day one and it doesn't have any other job to do", added Sagar while mocking the PDP's allegations in this context.
While NC was celebrating the report, PDP flayed the gist of the report submitted by the 'One man Commission' and expressing dissatisfaction over the Bedi Commission report, PDP Spokesperson Nayeem Akther said that the matter involves the criminality and it should be investigated under the provisions of criminal law.
"It is a criminal case involving money transaction which causes death in suspicious conditions, so it needs criminal investigation", said PDP spokesperson.
When asked who they demands should carry out criminal investigation, "Once government approves it, let us decide", he replied. "This report is to cover up the faces involved in crime. Though, various evidences has been destroyed or tempered but still PDP wants criminal investigation in the suspicious death", he added.
Not only PDP the family members too have turned down the report and expressing further resolve and determination to find every possible legal way to get justice, Hussain Talib, son of deceased Syed Yousuf popularly known as Haji Yousuf said that he had no expectation from the commission to bring out the truth. "Our family had never expected any justice from the commission. It was established to provide protective cover to officers and accused. We'll go to the Supreme Court for justice", said Hussain.
"I had never appeared before the commission except when I was compelled to appear once through summon because from the very beginning I had no expectation from the commission", he added.
Legal counselor of Hussain said that he would frame the opinion for future course after going through the commission's report.
Justice H S Bedi, Commission of Inquiry was appointed by the Government vide Notification SRO 340 on Nov 18 last year , 2011 after the NC worker from BIjbehara, Syed Yousuf had allegedly died in custody.
The term of the Commission was extended from time to time upto 28th December, 2012. The Commission held its hearings on 22 days. 17 persons have filed affidavits before the Commission.
