| BJP surrenders Nagrota constituency to NC conveniently...? | | Jugal 'makes it' to top post finally…! | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 22: The 'inevitable ' finally happened on expected lines with regard to election of State president of BJP. Jugal Kishore Sharma has been made as President for the J&K unit of party. Even as his name is being termed as 'unanimous' choice for the prestigious post, but the move has finally vindicated two major points- that BJP has surrendered the Nagrota constituency to ruling National Conference and NC leadership too managed to have its 'say' in the so called election for State president. The new president too is anyway in a far more advantageous position for more than one reason. With culmination of State president polls, a hectic activity witnessed in entire organization for a long time is finally over. It is a different matter what elevation of Jugal Kishore to the highest post means for cadres, workers as also how the key functionaries take assignments, responsibilities under his stewardship as new chief of the party. While the Central leadership team and others apparently expressed satisfaction at his being election as State chief, sources said there was not much of enthusiasm and joy among workers and cadres as this development unfolded officially at the party headquarters today. The official press release described the scene and atmosphere as filled with jubilations and exultation, sources, however, said the announcement as Jugal Kishore having been elected unopposed by senior leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy, came as an 'imposed' decision, if not a surprising one. There was no element of surprise for the final decision as things were pre decided and pre determined at least two days ago, sources said adding that it came only as official declaration for his name. Though for the last two weeks there were at least two more strong contenders for the top post, the move today ironically was given to be seen as no contest and Jugal having been elected as unopposed. However, the most significant aspect of the 'outcome' is party's political strength, unity post this development. As for Jugal Kishore, who is the sitting MLA from Nagrota constituency, the moot question remains whether he would now be able to concentrate on nourishing his constituency, given the fact there is less time left for next Assembly elections. Sources , however, said that for quite some time Jugal had not paying attention, not even visiting his constituency regularly, the way he used to do it earlier. Pertinently, Nagrota constituency has assumed significance it being the 'chosen' political bastion by CM's Political Advisor Devinder Singh Rana. Rana, it goes without saying has been concentrating on this constituency and visiting very often, having organized so many political rallies for the last few months, eyeing apparently 2014 Assembly elections. The insiders in the BJP have it to say that by elevating Jugal to the post of president, BJP leadership has virtually surrendered this constituency conveniently to NC. Sources also term this as a 'tacit move' , rather a 'pact' the top leaders of both the parties have entered for this, as it would mean a win position for both the sides. |
