| Christmas procession taken out in Jammu city | | | Early TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 22: A Christmas procession was taken out here on Saturday by Christian Community of Jammu here today as the part of ongoing Christmas celebrations. The procession was taken out in connection with Christmas celebrations to pray for the peace and prosperity of the State and country as a whole. The procession, starting from Shaheedi Chowk after passing through Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi, Kachi Chawni, Panjtirthi, Jain Bazar, Moti Bazar, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi and Rajinder Bazar later culminated at Shaheedi Chowk. The different Churches of Jammu City and outskirts participated in the procession with the Jhankis depicting the birth, works and Christ's precious teachings on love, harmony, peace, and brotherhood between people. The Choirs of different Churches sang Christmas carols and both Choirs and Jhankis (tabloids) were real attraction of the procession for the people gathered around the procession. Thousands of people gathered and participated on this joyous occasion which included 14 trolleys depicting different scenes from the holy Bible. Rev Pastor Udhay Singh and other pastors preached the message of Peace and Joy that the Child Jesus brings to us. Another Rev. Fr. Kuriakose, the Coordinator of the program spoke about Jesus Christ the Savior of the world by stressing the significance of His birth among us as a human being. He also emphasized in his message that our life comes from God because we all are created in the image and likeness of God. The priests preached about the precious teachings of Jesus Christ and specially prayed for the peace, harmony and blessing of India, J and K State and Jammu city. Besides religious depiction the Santa Claus, the angels and soldiers of Roman Army on horses were special attraction in the procession for the children.
