Jammu, Dec 22: The Consumer Welfare Associ-ation (CWA) unit of Distt. Poonch was formed with Abdul Qayoom as its convener.
According to the spokesp-erson of Association, other members inducted as Executive members of the said committee included Farooq Ahmad R/o Lassana, Mohd Iqbal R/o Jaran Wali Gali, Shamim Ganai R/o Azamabad, Nazam-ul-Hassan R/o Mandi, Mohd. Haneef R/o Plera, Aftab Gani R/o Azamabad,Khalid Iqbal R/o Kehnu, Abdul Aziz R/o lenu, Zafar Iqbal R/o Azamabad, MS Tazeem Akhtar R/o Plera and Nusrat Begam R/o Jaran Wali Gali.
During the maiden meeting of Distt Executive Committee, the members decided to actively work for protection of Consumer Rights and create awareness among the rural population about their rights as consumers under the Consumer Protection Act. It was also decided to actively celebrate 24th Dec as the National Consumers' Rights Day.
