EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Dec 26 : In the valley were private tuition has become a norm in wake of the alleged failures of the state government to provide quality education, thee private tuition centres are throwing all rules of government to winds, prescribed for them.
According to locals, the private tuition centres in South Kashmir's Anantnag district are becoming fast growing centres of business and points of immorality. This all happens despite state government especially district administration claims that it has framed "rules and regulations" for the private tuition centres to be "strictly adhered to."
Sources told KNS, private tuition centres in Southern district of Anantnag, are violating all the rules prescribed for them by the district administration like norms for accommodation, toilet facilities as well as the limited number of students to be admitted in class, so that they can carefully listen to the lectures of teacher.
"Most of the coaching centre are accommodating over 200 students in a single room having capacity to accommodate not more than 60 students. Students can be seen sitting windows or even maximum times outside the class", the sources added.
"We approached the coaching centre authorities many times and have requested them to make separate sections but the coaching centre authorities are not paying any attention towards them", said a student.
"I am continuously approaching to them to divide students into different sections like we have in schools but they aren't paying any attention at all", Aijaz Ahmad, a class 12th student outside CIA tuition centre told KNS, adding "We are over 200 students who attend classes in a room were only 100 students can sit normally. Some of us stand outside and windows and some attend the classes while standing".
He said that we are forced to sit and attend class like sheep's in the centre and last year few officers visited the same tuition centre and assured they will pressurize them but till time nothing has changed.
According to the students, these coaching centres lack in sufficient lighting as also no heating arrangements have been provided in view of harsh winter. "I am attending my classes in a room that has only one window and when my colleagues fail to enter the room they stand outside the same single window and are blocking the all light and rest you can imagine when we study in a semi dark room, boys and girls together", said another student.
Students alleged that they were forced by the school teachers to join these centres, as the students were told that half of their syllabi will be completed during winter vacations in these centres.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Nisar Hussian Wani, when contacted assured strict actions. (KNS)
