Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 3: With almost all senior leaders in race for top organizational posts in State, BJP which elected its president here on December 22, last year, the tussle has begun among senior BJP leaders to outwit each other. According to sources different lobbies are active in garnering support for their loyalists for some main posts of the Party. Though newly elected president Jugal Kishore Sharma has kept his cards open and he will not repeat the previous office bearers on the same post except one or two posts, giving a clear signal of change in the Party, some of the outgoing office bearers are trying hard to retain their posts and in this regard they have also roped in some senior leaders at national level. However, Kishore in his recent meeting with senior party leaders of the State here has given a clear signal that his team will have mostly the new faces, sources said, adding this has resulted into a resentment in the Party. Sources said that some senior leaders have criticized the style of functioning of Mr Sharma and intimated the same to High Command. Even the Kashmir unit leaders have written a letter to High Command in which they have shown their total displeasure over appointment of Mr Sharma as Party chief. In their letter to High Command they have categorically mentioned that new State chief was not acceptable to them, sources said, adding they have also expressed apprehensions whether Sharma can keep the flock together or not? Though there has been no signal from Party High Command regarding the appointment of new team in the State, the senior leaders continue to lobby for their loyalists. However, the State chief has not given any ear to them, saying that he will take every step he deems fit to strengthen the Party in the State. A group of party leaders is vying for the posts of senior vice president, vice president while others are trying their luck for the post of general secretary, secretary, chief spokesman, spokesmen and treasurer. Mr Jugal is also under constant pressure from some leaders to give a chance to new slot who have worked with the Party from their student age. Meanwhile, some senior leaders who were also vying for president are on war path with new incumbent. They have also challenged the decision of Party leadership with senior leaders at New Delhi seeking their immediate intervention in the matter. Likewise many leaders are in race for the State presidentship of BJYM the elections of which are going to be held soon. Various senior youth leaders names are making rounds and under the consideration of the Party. Those who are trying their luck included Surinder Choudhary senior vice president, BJYM, Narotam Sharma and Sanjay Baru. But the Party has not yet cleared the final name and the final decision, in this regard will be either taken by State president or organizational general secretary of the Party. |
