| Minor raped, accused arrested after 2 months | | |

Srinagar, Jan 3: A minor 14 year old girl Rumaisa (name changed) was allegedly raped by a 32 year old man after forcibly pushing some medicines in her mouth before raping her in his own home in this south Kashmir's Aliyalpora area in District shopian.
According to Police statement, one Shahid Ahamd Wani son of Manzoor Ahmad wani of Aliyalpora shopian used to chase this girl every day during her school hours in the morning and evening time from last few months and was threatening her to accompany. After Sammena repeatedly refused to accompany him, on 25th of Nov 2012 Shahid kidnapped her near Aliyalpora-Kannipora crossing and took her to his home where he forcibly pushed some medicines in her mouth,beat her and finally raped her.
"He had clicked my photographs and was trying to black mail me but I refused every time to accompany him. That day I was on my way to my maternal uncles home, he stopped me near Aliyalpora-Kanipora and said that he treats me as his sister, finally took me to his home and there forcibly pushed a tablet in my mouth and raped me there ."said Rumaisa
Because of social stigma victim's family did not lodge an FIR . Rumaisa's parents tried to contact Shahid's family and solve the matter with mutual consent to save their daughter's future, but on reaching his home, they found no one in the house and were informed by locals of the area that the family was in Delhi.
It did not stop here, according to Rumaisa's father shabir Ahmad wagay, "Shahid used to threaten us from Delhi on phone that if they highlighted this issue in locality he will make the obscene video of our daughter public."
On January 2, 2013 after hearing that Shahid along with his family had returned from Delhi, victim's family members along with Police reached to Aliyalpora, they were beaten up by friends and family members of the accused.
Today Rumaisa was taken to hospital for medical examination and police arrested Shahid Ahmad wani from his house and lodged an FIR no 1/2013 under section RPC 342 and 376. |
