But who will convert Odds into Evens Mr CM?

JAMMU, Jan 3: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted on State's all rounder Parvez Rasool's inclusion in India A team as 'a triumph against all odds', in the process confessing that there were actually no Evens for the sportsmen of J&K to make it to the top eventhough Chief Minister himself is the president of the State Sports Council, the consortium of various sports associations which is responsible for sports administration in J&K.
Omar was perhaps referring to Parvez's horrifying experience when he was detained in Bangalore on the suspicion of carrying explosives, but the talented cricketer braved odds aplenty beyond this incident till Bishen Singh Bedi was appointed as coach to the State cricket. No cricketer from the State has adorned India colours till today not because of dearth of talent, but because of the prolonged bitter infighting within the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association that has left the association totally delusioned from its primary objective of promoting cricket and most of its members are seen in Courts attending to litigations rather than in crickets grounds, providing opportunities to the budding talent.
Besides infighting within the JKCA that has ravaged the game in the State, the financial misappropriation of its funds further added to disrepute and discredit of its members. While disclosure of huge misuse of funds not only unlid a can of worms within the JKCA, in the process jeopardizing the construction of a world class cricket stadium in Jammu that could have helped many a young talents in the State blossom at the international level. Regrettably, Government did not care to intervene in the matter for obvious reasons.
However, Rassool's inclusion in India A team that would take on England on January 6 is a silver lining to the J&K cricket. Rasool has given credit of his accomplishment to Bishen Singh Bedi, the former India captain who is coaching J&K cricketers at present. "Bedi made us realise that we are here to compete and not just to participate. Earlier, J&K players used to play for the heck of it but now we believe in ourselves. We believe that we have the talent to be among the best," Rassool said when asked about Bedi's influence on the psyche of the team.
Meanwhile, It has been long hard journey for the talented cricketer who was detained by Bangalore police for questioning in 2009 in connection with suspected presence of explosives at the Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of the Champions League match between Victoria and Cape Cobras.
"I take that incident as a bad dream... Cricket has helped me to overcome (the trauma of) that incident," Rassool said.
Another of Omar's tweets read, "@Jb21bh: @abdullah_omar,Pervez Rasool is the best allrounder in the domestic cricket in India at present."
