Kathua, Jan 3: The Sikh Community, celebrated the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh ji with great reverence at Kathua today. On the occasion a massive religious procession full of spiritual passion was taken out in kathua town which started from Gurudwara at Mukharji Chowk Kathua. The highlight of the event was the proud moment when Sikh people dressed as Punj Pyare bowed their heads to the picture of the 10th Guru. With their hands folded, eyes closed and heads bowed, the little ones recited the mool mantar, which is a part of their daily prayer. Some kidz of the community, attired in traditional dresses, listened to the life history of Guru Gobind Singh ji, who symbolizes righteousness, valour and sacrifice. Charanjeet Singh chairman kathua Gurudhawra Prabandhak Committee said that tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji was born in Patana in Bihar on 22 December 1666 and his birthday generally falls in December or January. He said that according to the Sikh Nanakshashi calendar this day marks the birth of tenth and final Sikh prophet and teacher Guru Gobind Singh Ji who introduced many of the customs that Sikhs practise today including the 5k's. |
