In an unexpected incident SHO Police Station, Manjakote (District Rajouri) allegedly has constructed several illegal speed breakers under jurisdiction of his police station and road accidents are often reportedly because of these illegal and unspecified speed breakers.
Pertinent to mention that there are set guideline for construction of any speed breaker, the Indian Road Congress (IRC) guidelines state that an ideal speed breaker should be four-inch high and one-meter wide with 1.25 meters of slope on both sides and there must also be cautionary notice board tagged at least 10 to 15 meters ahead of speed breakers on either sides of the road.

Ayaz Mughal RTI Activist and Chairman Awake India when contacted said, "Most of the speed breakers built on the road stretch are unauthorized as these are constructed without following the guidelines and mandatory yellow or white lines.
"Such flawed speed-breakers, marked or unmarked, are creating traffic hazards. Many of them are so odd that an driver has no option but to slam the brakes at the last minute, he added.
SHO Manjakote, when contacted, said that it has been constructed by him to regulate the smooth traffic but without due consultation with experts. Meanwhile SSP Rajouri also said that an SHO is not authorized to construct such speed breakers and intervene in the job of construction agencies. An enquiry has been initiated against the SHO to ascertain the facts about his involvement in construction of these illegal speed-breakers.
