early times report KATHUA, Jan 3: Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) XI today upset the title holders, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) beating latter by 10 runs to reach the semifinals stages of the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs' Memorial North Zone Twenty20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, here. Earlier, batting first, after PSPCL won the toss and opted to field, JKAP XI set a target of 162 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, PSPCL could not attain the goal and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 151 runs losing nine wickets. Pankaj Ladda remained top scorer from JKAP with 53-ball 58 runs while Aunam (41 off 29 balls) and Ishtiaq (28 off 18 balls) were other main contributors. From PSPCL, Gautam and Navdeep took two wickets each while Sandeep Kohli and Vicky shared apiece each. Later, PSPCL made a great start with last year's man of the series and star striker, Rockey Dutta hitting two sixes and a boundary brining the total to 16 in first four deliveries of the innings. However, he lost his wicket in the fifth delivery of the opening over to the advantage of the opponent. Even after losing Rocky, PSPCL kept the scoreboard moving with 76 for one in seven overs. In the meantime, Ashwani captured to back to back wickets and succeeded in making a halt to PSPCL innings. Other incoming batsman could not maintain the required run rate and concluded their innings at 151 for the loss of nine wickets. Sandeep Kohli (35), Suraj (25) and Inder (22) were main scorers. From JKAP XI, Ashwani and Himanshu took three wickets each. For his match winning innings of 58 runs and two brilliant catches, Pankaj was declared man of the match. He was presented the cash prize of Rs 1500 and trophy by Additional SP Kathua, Zahid Manhas.
