early times report JAMMU, Jan 3: Coaching Center Astroturf defeated Army Public School (APS) Rakh Muthi 3-0 to clinch the Women's Hockey Championship trophy, organised by the Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today. Coaching Center women dominated the proceedings throughout making it an easy 3-0 win against the young but aggressive opponent. Rishu Sharma (20th), Gargi (30th) and Shallu Mehra (59th) were the scorers from winning side. Earlier, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade won third place outplaying SOS Gole Gujral by a solitary goal in the hardliner. The only goal came through Anjali in the 10th minute. Today's matches were officiated by Jagjeet Singh, J S Reen, Rohit Sharma and Digvijay Singh. In the final and prize distribution function, Director Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J P Singh was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. He encouraged the participants and assured all possible cooperation from the department in promoting the game of hockey among young boys and girls at the school level. Prominent among those present were general secretary of Hockey J&K, Romal Singh, Jaswant Singh, VK Kohli, G S Bakshi, Sanjeet Gupta, P P Singh, Inderpal Singh, Charanjeet Singh and Jagjeet Kour. |
