| BJP claims credit for Kargil air link | | | ealry times report Jammu, Jan 3: While welcoming the announcement to start air service to Kargil from Jammu and other places, BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma Thursday claimed that the real credit for establishing Civil Airport at Kargil goes to BJP and the party's Parliamentarians' Study Group on J&K led by MP and former National President Rajnath Singh. Elaborating on the efforts of BJP Study Group, Sharma said that after undertaking a detail tour of Ladakh region during the group's visit to study the problems of the people and their grievances, Singh had written a letter to the Prime Minister explaining the need of an airport at Kargil and seeking Manmohan Singh's personal intervention in the matter. He said that the BJP Study Group had visited Kargil and held meetings with the local people, who besides making other demands, stressed on establishment of an airport at Kargil and construction of an all-weather road link with Srinagar. Sharma said that Singh had also urged upon the Prime Minister to undertake a project for all weather road in the region with a motive to ensure round the year vehicular movement. He said that it is indeed a welcome decision that the establishment of civil airport has been approved but the Congress should not take political mileage out of it.
