MIET Inks MoU with University of Missouri-Kansas City

Jammu, Jan 7: In a milestone in education sector, the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), USA enabling MIET students to pursue higher degree programmes at the School of Computing and Engineering, UMKC with provisions of scholarship.
This is the first instance of a foreign collaboration by any private technical institution in the State of J&K, spokesperson of college said further adding the MoU will provide provisions of academic visits, collaborative research, exchange of academic materials and short-term academic projects.
The MoU was formalized by Prof Vijay Kumar, Senior Professor, School of Computing and Engineering UMKC and Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET in a function in which Prof Desh Bandhu, Director Colleges Development, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest Prof Desh Bandhu, Director Colleges Development, University of Jammu, extended congratulations to MIET and UMKC on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of MIET in creating global opportunities for its students. He hoped that more international linkages shall help in providing global exposure to the students.
Earlier Maj Gen (Retd) Prof S.K Sharma, Principal, MIET welcomed the dignitaries on the occasion and gave a brief overview of the progress and development at MIET over the last few years
As a lead up to the signing of the MoU, Prof. Vijay Kumar, Senior Professor from UMKC, USA conducted a one-day workshop on "Advanced Research Skills in Computer Science and IT" on 6th January at MIET for over 40 faculty members drawn from various institutions in the region.
Prof Kumar also presented a brief overview of UMKC and expressed confidence that this initial engagement with MIET can evolve into a mutually beneficial relationship with exciting possibilities. He was happy to see the progress made by MIET in the decade of its existence.
Chairman, MIER, Dr Arun Gupta's congratulatory message was read in absentia by Dr Adit Gupta on the occasion who hailed this collaboration as an important precursor to the launch of quality, research-based technical programmes at MIET. He described this as a culmination of a long-standing dream of the institute to forge collaborations with top-ranking institutions.
The dignitaries then proceeded to release the MIET newsletter and the latest issue of the International Journal of Next-Generation Computing. Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIER presented the Formal Vote of Thanks.
