'Kahani Hum Badlenge' a new Hindi Play staged in Natrang's Sunday Theatre Series
1/13/2013 10:13:13 PM

Early TImes report

Jammu, Jan 13: Natrang presented a highly meaningful play 'Kahani Hum Badlenge' in its weekly theatre series, 'Natrang Sunday Theatre' today. The play was very intelligently conceived, written and directed by Sumeet Sharma, who has put numerous instances of the problems which women face in the society in a very concentrated and thought provoking manner. This experimental play was enacted with the feel of emotional connect by the girls which added to its overall impact.
In the play, 'Kahani hum Badlenge', 'Roshni' is shown as an ideal woman, who knows her rights and duties, who knows how to manage home and office in a balanced way. In other words, she is what any girl would aspire to become. But to the surprise of all, she tells that the journey was not easy. From the very childhood, she had to face the discrimination in the family and society as well. Even before she was born, her family was planning to kill her but somehow they didn't succeed. After she was born, she received a very bitter welcome in this world and the problems multiplied as she grew up. She encountered all the situations with a very strong determination and eventually got the rights, freedom and respectability which were rightfully hers, but she had to fight hard to get the status of equality. She asserts that no matter whatever we say about the rights and freedom of woman, majority of the woman folk is still subject to this age old orthodox thinking. But 'If we have to get our share, we should know it and shall have a strong conviction to get it, no matter what has happened or is happening, we will change what will happen'.
The students of GCW Gandhi Nagar who acted remarkably well in the play included Padmini Kalra, Harneet Kour, Roohi Sharma, Mehr-Un-Nisa, Abhisha Khajuria, Archana Sharma, Jasmeet Kour and Sonia. The acting of Natrang actors Pawan Verma and Sajra Qadir in the play elevated the overall performance level. Vishal Sharma assisted in the back stage and Roohi Singh operated the Music.
Lights were designed and operated by Sumeet Sharma. Gaurav Jamwal did the presentations.
