| Festivals give message of brotherhood, peace: Malhotra | | | Jammu, Jan 13 : Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra has said that festivals are giving the message of peace, brotherhood besides strengthening cultural ethos and asked people to work for over all development of the State. Malhotra was speaking at a function organized in connection with celebration of Lohri festival here at Shree Sanathan Dharam Sabha today. A galaxy of intellectuals, senior citizens, Hindu religious leaders, politicians besides local people and students were present on the occasion. The Chairman said that festivals give us the message of love and coherence irrespective of caste and creed. He asked people to follow the religious teachings strictly to make the society a peaceful social hub. He said every religion shows the path of tolerance and equality and asked the people to keep the traditions alive maintained by our seers and saints. Appreciating the efforts of the trustees of the Dharam Sabha, Malhotra said that holding of such functions would yield good results in promoting the unity of diversified culture of the State. He hoped that the Lohri festival will be a harbinger of lasting peace and prosperity in the state. A variety of cultural programmes were present on the occasion which enthralled the audience. |
