| CITU urges AFCONS management to reinstate disengaged workers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) J&K has supported strike launched by the Jammu National Highway Workers Union against AFCONS Company at Panjgrian, Nagrota. 70 workers have been disengaged by the company. In a statement a spokesperson of the CITU said on 04-01-2013, an agreement took place between the management, administration and representatives of the Union in which Project Director NH-IA, R P Singh, Assistant Labour Commissioner Ashok Kumar, CITU Working President Javid Ahmad Zarger and office bearers of Jammu National Workers Union participated and it was agreed that all the disengaged workers will be reinstated within three days. "But more than 14 days have passed since the agreement is not fulfilled. It is surprising that the Company has engaged the work force from other states of the country," he said. Javid Zarger demanded immediate reinstatement of these workers and said that it was "inhuman approach" of the government as well as of the AFCONS management to disengage the workers. The CITU expressed its full support to striking workers and urged AFCONS management to consider the demands of agitating workers immediately. |
