| Cold desert turns hot : Kargil unit resigns to protest expulsion of Akhoon | | Banner of revolt continues unabated for NC | | early times report Jammu, Jan 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah may well be painting 'all is well', image with the 'master stroke' he effected in making replacements and substitutions both within council of ministers as also within the party, but there appears to be no end to revolt from various districts, Kargil being the latest one where trouble has started brewing up. If reports from Kargil are to be believed, two days after simmering protests and resentment expressed by the party functionaries against dropping of Qamar Ali Akhoon , erstwhile cabinet minister holding CAPD portfolio, the Wor-king Committee of the NC today resigned from the party. According to reports, the Working Committee under the leadership of president Ghulam Hassan Khan has sent in their resignation to the Party High Command. However, this could not be confirmed from the district body of NC nor have the Provincial headquarters in Kashmir or Jammu given any indication of party high quarters having received the resignations. Whether this is a pressure tactics to ask for something big in lieu of Akhoon's replacement for the leader in terms of accommodating 'adequately' elsewhere, or simply a protest gesture to express unhappiness over Aakhoon's exit in a sudden manner from the Council, will be ascertained only after High Command responds to their reaction. However, for the party facing such revolts from almost all quarters , the resignation of functionaries from the district is certainly a worrying development . For , this move, if allowed to remain unattended is going to have far reaching political implications for the party in the district of desert region where it faces straight rival PDP in coming Parliamentary polls as also Assembly elections in 2012 in the state. As for the development seen today, the functionaries in their resignation letter have attributed this step to what they have termed as 'prevailing situation' occurred due to reshuffling of State Cabinet by the Chief Minister of J&K State Omar Abdullah. They have written that the Party in Kargil is upset for 'ignoring' the people of Kargil District in General and National Conference party workers in particular for not inducting Qamar Ali Akhone MLA Kargil in the State Cabinet . Pertinent to mention is that NC is already facing such revolt from the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch where from the panches and Sarpanches affiliated with party submitted their resignations on Thursday . The Party is facing similar trouble in Budgam district where supporters of Aga Ruhulla have raised revolt . Sources within the party say that even from Srinagar district there is simmering discontent apart from some areas in South Kashmir. While leadership is not giving any significance to such gestures, it remains to be seen how it would tackle the fronts of revolt going unabated.
