early times report
JAMMU, Jan 18: There is a widespread resentment among the minorities in the state for not giving representation to them in the council of ministers even after its latest expansion on January 15.
According to sources the minority communities including Sikhs, Kashmiri Pandits and Shia Muslims are up in arms against the Omar Abdullah Govern-ment for its shabby treatment to the communities and not considering to grant representation to them in the council of ministers as has been a precedence in past. The members of Shia community enmass protested in Kargil today against stripping of their representatives in council of ministers and also the members of the party have reportedly submitted their resignations enmass to the leadership to protest against stripping of Qamar Ali Akhoon who was earlier holding the charge of CAPD and Transport Ministry.
Besides there is a lot of resentment among the Minority Sikhs in the state who have been completely neglected and not given representation by the Omar Abdullah Government which completed its four years in office recently.
The Sikh community has taken serious exception to it as the coalition Government completely ignored it and did not give representation to its member in council of ministers, said S Mohinder Singh a social
Activist He said that the behavior of represent Government is totally callous towards the community and the situation ahs reached to such a level that Sikhs fail to understand whom to vote for in next Assembly poll. He said the Sikh community has fully backed the NC and Congress in last Assembly elections of 2008 and this Government has betrayed the community completely. But the members of the community will not be a silent spectator to this and they will launch a forceful protest and even approach the Congress High Command at New Delhi to seek justice for the community.
Likewise the Kashmiri Pandits who have right from formation of first popular Government in the state were getting a one Cabinet berth in the state have for the first time been ignored by Omar Abdullah led
coalition. This way the NC led coalition ahs set a wrong precedence in the state, said Ramesh Kumar a KP activist from New Delhi.
He said the claims made by the Government about the confidence Building measures are totally hollow as how can the members of KP community leading an exiled life for over 22 years now can trust the
present dispensation when it did not even consider to give a representation to it in state council of ministers. The people claiming of fulfilling the dream of Naya Kashmir are
eroding its basic values themselves as the slogan of Naya Kashmir was based on taking each and every community along, said Pran Raina another KP activist. This Government has itself eroded the principle
as it completely ignored the minorities by not considering them fit for granting representation in council of ministers. Abid Hussian a Shia leader from Kargil said four Cabinet Ministers were inducted in Kashmir who represented majority community while the two Shia ministers were stripped off and other minorities were totally ignored.
