Three militants including a woman acquitted
Prosecution failed miserably

RAMBAN, Jan 18: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban M.A Chowdhary has acquitted there alleged militants namely Manzoor Ahmad, Feroz Din alias Nasarullah Gazi and Raj Begum w/o Manzoor Ahmed Naik who were facing trial in kidnapping and beating as prosecution miserably failed to bring home the charge against the accused persons
According to the police case, On the basis of written complaint on July 28, 2007 by Bashir Ahmed & ors alleging therein that on July 26, 2007 at 6:00 PM while they were proceeding towards their home when two militants in Army Uniform Manzoor Ahmed and Nasarullah Gazi took all of them to Bhimdasan where Raj Begum wife of Manzoor and some other persons assaulted them seriously and took away their cell phones forcibly; that they were tied after beating and the militants left for taking meals at the house and that they succeeded to escape. Gool Police registered a case vide FIR No. 49/2007 for the commission of offences punishable under sections 364/342/382/323/34 RPC & 7/27 Arms Act & 4/5 Explosive Substances Act against Manzoor Ahmad, Feroz Din code Nasarullah Gazi son of Mohd Abdullah Malik resident of Salballah Gool and Raj Begum wife of Manzoor Ahmad Naik resident of Dalwah Sangaldhan Tehsil Ramban before the Court.
Principal Sessions Judge Ramban M.A Chowdhary after hearing both the sides held that prosecution has withheld the main and star witness of the case Mohd Ayoob and his father Gul Mohd besides the non-examination of Doctor and IO and IOs who had completed the investigation.
With these observations Court held that prosecution has miserably failed to bring home the charge against the accused. The prosecution case fails and is dismissed. Accused are acquitted of the charges. —JNF
