| Kashmir coaching centres may take Govt to court | | | early times report Srinagar, Jan 18: With School Education Department asking the coaching centres to adhere to its guidelines, the Coaching Centres Association (CCA) on the other hand has categorically refused to follow the government diktat by saying that they would set up an autonomous body in parallel to the school education department to overcome the "failures" of government in evolving the education system. They have threatened that they would take legal recourse against the government if they are forced to implement the order. Tightening the noose around the coaching centres, the School Education Department has set up several guidelines and has asked the coaching centres to register by January 31 and provide proper facilities to the students in coaching centres. However, the CCA has slammed the government and refused to implement the "diktat" of the government. "Government has failed to develop the good education system in the Valley; while as coaching centres have a success story. Coaching centres only evolve when government fails and to overcome their failures, it is necessary for the coaching centres to take the lead for the up gradation of the education system," Chairman CCA, GN War said. War blamed the government for its failures in the education system and said the CCA would set up an autonomous body parallel to the Education Department to overcome the failures of the government and for the larger interest of the students. "We cannot accept the diktat of government in running our coaching centres. We won't accept government decisions about fee structures in coaching centres, but we will do it ourselves and will follow the guidelines of our autonomous body. The government has entirely failed to develop the education system here, but it has shown progress in the Valley only because of coaching centres," he claimed. He alleged that the was showing discriminatory attitude towards the Valley based coaching centres. "Why guidelines only for the Valley coaching centres, why not for the Jammu region?" he questioned. Another member of the CCA told the reporters in a meeting of CCA that they would take legal recourse against the authorities if they are forced to implement the order of the government. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon had earlier asked Director School Education Kashmir to submit the list of teachers who are teaching in private tuition centres. |
