| Politician indulges in green felling | | |

Kathua, Jan 31: In blatant violation of law, massive green felling operation is on inside the premises of Social Forestry's Nursery at Sunjwan reportedly at the behest of a leading politician of the area. While labour has been engaged to cut down green trees in the premises of the Social Forestry, the DFO has expressed ignorance of any such incident. DFO Gulam Nabi when contacted told ET correspondent that no permission was sought by any individual or group for cutting any trees in the area. However, insiders disclosed to ET that the powerful politician had threatened the forest officials of dire consequences if they intervened. The DFO however assured strict action under law against the guilty. |
