Kulgam School that functioned for 2 months only continues to run on papers

kulgam, Jan 31: Government Primary School Nai-Basti Qoimoh Kulgam was established in year 2010. It functioned for just two months and two teachers were appointed to run the school. However, the school was closed down after two months but the house owner and the two teachers continue to get their wages from the Government
Reports said that a person got the school sanctioned under Centrally Sponsored Scheme SSA after showing fake enrollment of students.
Sources inside the Education Department at Kulgam revealed that the person who was appointed as RT Teacher with political support and bribe, showed enrollment of 10 students already registered in other schools of the area. Later, he along with second female appointee failed to increase the enrollment in the school, a rule that enhances the point to increase the number of students in the school.
Meanwhile, the students left and re-joined their schools. Sources revealed that after two months then Zonal Education Officer Qoimoh inspected various schools of the zone and found 'Zero' enrollments in Government Primary School Nai-Basti Qoimoh and later informed Chief Education Officer about the fact.
School was then formally closed but no action was taken against the teachers, an official of the Education Department said.
From 2010 to this day the officials has thrown rules of SSA into winds. According to the norms if any teacher appointed under SSA fails to increase enrollment has to be disengaged from the services. In the instant this rule has not been followed.
The owner of the building Mohammad Ismael resident of Nai-Basti Qoimoh, Kulgam, is regularly getting the monthly rent from the department for the building.
Chief Education Officer Kulgam, when contacted confirmed the intentional negligence of the predecessors and said, "Yes, there is negligence from the officials in this regard." He said he would look in to the matter.
Director Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) said that she has no role in engaging or disengaging the teachers and issue pertains to Commissioner Sectary. "I have no information about the closer of the school", she said.
