Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 31: Infamous Amandeep murder case today took another turn with one of the accused consuming a poisonous substance inside the court room today. According to police sources, constable Raj Singh, a ballistic expert of Forensic Sciences Lab, took all by surprise when he fell unconscious in the court premises. Initially, all felt that he may have fallen unconscious due to dead beat. He was rushed to the hospital where the doctors attending to him confirmed that he had taken poison. His stomach was washed later and is reportedly now recovering. Pertinent to mention here that in the much-published Amandeep murder case, the Second Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, framed charges against the main accused, Jatinder Singh and Royal Singh, under Sections 302/34 of the RPC read with Section 3/25 of the Arms Act. It also charged Manohar Singh, the then SSP, Jammu, Sultan Mehmood Mirza, the then SHO of Gandhi Nagar police station, Satnam Singh, the then investigating officer, Sarwar Hussain Bukhari, a ballistic expert from the Forensic Sciences Lab, constable Raj Singh, Chaudhary Nagar Singh and Chaudhary Rakesh Singh for offences punishable under Sections 409/120-B of the RPC read with Sections 3/25 of the Arms Act. On, 17th November, 2009 Choudhary Nagar Singh, Jagar Singh and Rakesh Singh surrendered before the Court of Munsiff at R S Pura. On 29th August, 2009, Amandeep Singh, son of ex-MLC Depinder Kour was allegedly shot at by Jatinder Singh, alias Raja, son of Nagar Singh at his residence in Gandhi Nagar. Accordingly, FIR 247/09 under section 307, 34, 323 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. The Investigation was entrusted to Sub-Inspector Satnam Singh. The victim Amandeep Singh was referred to Ganga Ram hospital, Delhi where he succumbed to his injuries next day. Later, Nagar Singh, Jagar Singh and Rakesh Singh, Manohar Singh, the then SSP Jammu, Suntan Mirza, the then SHO Gandhi Nagar, Sarwar Hussain Bukhari Ballastic Expert FSL Jammu, Raj Singh Constable were also arrested for their alleged involvement in fudging of evidence. Charges were framed on 6th December, 2010. However, Choudhary Jagar Singh, elder brother of Nagar Singh was granted bail in 2010. On 7th July, 2012, S-I Satnam Singh, the IO of the case, died of ailment at the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital. |
