| Capital in Jammu, Ministers in Valley | | Thanks giving to Chief Minister? | | ET Report JAMMU, Jan 31: Taking a clue from the statement of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about reversing the Darbar move, his Council of Ministers has virtually shifted the Darbar to the Valley this winter. The Civil Secretariat in Jammu is wearing a deserted look as most of the Ministers of National Conference-Congress coalition Government are stationed in Valley in a bid to appease the Chief Minister. For this week, the newly appointed Minister of State (MoS) with independent charge of Industries and Commerce Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo has to occupy the winter secretariat in Srinagar but many other Ministers, including Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar, Law Minister Mir Saifullah and several others are presently in Valley. Not only this, the recently appointed MoS Independent charge of Health Shabir Ahmed Khan was also in Srinagar and only came back to Jammu on Wednesday evening. Most importantly, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself was in Valley for most of the time this week and hardly paid a visit to Secretariat in Jammu. This is the dangerous ploy of the NC led Government who have been facing allegations of discrimination against Jammu and Ladakh regions. It is the fact that from Pantha Chowk in Pampore area of Pulwama district to Lakahnpur and from Kishtwar to Poonch, NC was only able to win seven seats during 2008 Assembly elections. Omar is well aware of the fact that whole Jammu region and south Kashmir is not his party's stronghold. Central and North Kashmir hold key for NC, thus he tries to give every thing to Central Kashmir that includes Srinagar. |
