| NPSU resents neglect of Pahari Community | | | Early TImes Report
JAMMU, Jan 31: Lambasting the state government for its alleged failure to safeguard the interests of Pahari Community, the National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) said that the present regime is adopting a callous attitude towards Paharis. Addressing a press conference here today at party headquarters, NPSU State General Secretary Syed Zeshan said that the state government has failed to fulfill its promises to seek justice for the Pahari Community from the Union Government. Zeshan said we will not let anyone to play with our rights and now the educated unemployed youth of the community is being harassed by the state government forcing them to come on roads for which government will be liable for any law and order problems in the state. Otherwise all the reservation should be abolished for all communities in the interest of equality and social justice. He said deprived Pahari Community is the major sufferer as there is no political equality adding that though Board for Development of Pahari community was also established for the upliftment for the community, but it is very unfortunate that Pahari Advisory Board has become hub of corruption. NPSU leader appealed to all Pahari legislators to introduce a bill in both the Houses of the Legislature in upcoming Budge Session for the amendments in the reservation laws of the state. He demanded immediate Hill Development Council for Pahari areas, ST status to nationalist Pahari Community and recruitment on the merit basis. |
