| NC to hasten filling vacant posts to keep voters in good humour | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 31: The National Conference leadership, particularly Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is on what is called course correction so that whatever blunders the ruling coalition had committed during the last four year were rectified so as to win peoples' support which the NC has lost . Government sources said that Omar Abdullah has decided to focus his attention to resolving the problem of unemployment and in this connection he has given his nod to various recruiting boards, agencies to fill most of the vacant posts in different Government departments. To begin with the Government has decided to fill most of the posts of teachers that are lying vacant in scores of Government schools and colleges. This is to be followed by filling of vacant posts in hospitals, medical colleges, dispensaries and other health institutes in the state. Rough estimates reveal that over 40,000 posts are vacant in various Government departments, including educational institutions, hospitals, courts and other institutions. Reports said that there were several thousand class IV posts vacant and the Government has decided to go in for a crash programme for filling these posts and in a bid to facilitate speedy recruitment the Government has abolished written test system for class IV aspirants. The Government has suggested to the Public Service Commission, the state subordinate services recruitment Board to hasten their procedure for preparing lists of selected candidates for various posts referred to these two boards by the Government. Even the police recruitment Boards too have been told to go in for cash recruitment of constables and for filling vacant posts in the executive and the Armed wings of the Police. Reports said that Omar has framed a plan of providing jobs to nearly 80,000 unemployed youths during the current year and once the target was completed the NC leadership would not be accused of delaying implementing its promise to reduce the level of unemployment problem in the state. In addition to this, the Government plans to regularize services of a section of daily wagers and increase the emoluments for Anganwari workers and those recruited as Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers and those in the Agriculture department. These steps were being taken to improve the image of the ruling coalition which was needed by the NC and the Congress for facing the ensuing Assembly poll. |
