| Police seizes timber in large scale | | | Early Times Report
samba, Jan 31: Police seized timber in large scale during two different raids in Katwalta and Mandal areas of Samba district last night. Cases stands registered in this regard at respective police stations. Police reports said the on a specific report regarding large scale felling of trees illegally in Katwalta and Mandal areas and smuggling of timber from these areas. Police conducted raids at village Katwalta and found that around 70/80 number of Shesham trees had been cut by one Banmali Ram S/O Jai Ram R/O Katwalta, Purmandal Tehsil & District Samba against permission which was granted to him for cutting of only 10 trees with effect from Dec 11 -21 last year. Accordingly, timber has been seized from the spot and Case FIR No. 02/2013 u/s 188 RPC registered at Police Station Purmandal for further investigation. Moreover, Purmandal Police also raided village Queli, Katwalta, Purmandal and found that more than 80 trees has also been cut from the trunk by one Hashim Rasool S/O Biru Gujjar R/O Village Queli, Purmandal. Police seized 20 Quintals of timbers from the spot andCase FIR No. 03/2013 u/s 188 RPC registered at P/S Purmandal. Keeping in view the clandestine cutting of trees in these areas and to curb its smuggling, SSP Samba has directed SDPO Bari-Brahmna/SHO Purmandal to establish Nakas at vital points in the area for keeping check on all such vehicles/trollies carrying timber from towards Bari-Brahmna, Vijaypur and Jammu etc and to book the culprits and seize such vehicles under law. Moreover, SSP Samba also requested Deputy Commissioner, Samba to issue necessary orders for the cancellation of all such permissions issued. |
