KATHUA, Feb 9: Stadium (Senior) XI today made it a one-sided contest against GDC Kathua, courtesy all-round performance from Nishant, in the ongoing Kathua Premier League (KPL) Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Stadium XI set a huge target of 166 runs for the loss of seven wickets, which, in reply, GDC Kathua could not chase and bowled out cheaply for 39 runs in 9.3 overs. Nishant and Arvind remained top scorers with 37 and 25 runs respectively. From GDC Kathua, Sourab claimed three wickets. Later, GDC Kathua made a meek surrender before the Stadium XI bowlers and lost all their wickets for 39 runs in 9.3 overs. None of the batsmen could touch the double figure mark. Nishant emerged as most successful bowler with three wickets, followed by Shiv Dutt and Arvind, who shared two each. For his all-round performance, Nishant was adjudged man of the match. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, played in the morning session, ACC Kathua registered a fine 32 runs win over Kings XI Kathua. Batting first, ACC Kathua bowled out for 125 runs in 19.3 overs with Kundan being highest scorer. Kundan made 31 runs with the help of two fours and a six. Ravi claimed three wickets from Kings XI. In reply, Kings XI bundled out for 93 runs in 16.3 overs. Varun top scored with 24 runs. Sunny claimed four wickets from ACC Kathua, followed by Ranbir, who took three. For his match winning spell, Sunny was declared man of the match.
