| Rivals on same page: NC competes with PDP in reaction….? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 9: Even as opposition PDP and ruling NC are almost on same page as far as their reaction to Afzal Guru execution is concerned for obvious reasons of addressing their political constituencies and political considerations on mind, NC's observations, though different at different levels, are being seen only as in competition with its rival in order to gain more points and scores in political spectrum. Both the parties have criticized the move of Union Government to hang Guru, contending clemency for which he made in appeal in 2011 should have been granted and death sentence should have been commuted to life imprisonment ,as an opposition party PDP has tried to raise some questions as to failure of Omar Abdullah led Government to assert on certain aspects of execution. Though NC's ever vocal Mustafa Kamaal has tried to compete on the key points almost in equal wave length, tone and tenor as far as castigating the action is concerned, but he has deliberately chosen to ask these questions from his nephew and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah . PDP's observations in capacity of opposition party are well understood but one is disappointed , if not surprised at the comments of Mustafa Kamaal as he has raised his finger once again at New Delhi, of which his party is ally , brother being the Union Minister and nephew in Chief Minister's chair . Astonishingly, Kamaal has gone to the extent of accusing New Delhi, though not naming Congress in particular, in questioning the timing of the execution and saying that this was aimed at destabilizing the State Government as also an attempt to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the J&K State. However, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, no matter for the sake of criticism and political considerations, has rubbished the Chief Minister's claim that he had no role in carrying out the execution. Her argument while she takes on NC being that it can have adverse impact in State and that the decision that can have long term political implications on the State. However, her rallying point on this argument is that NC is part of the UPA and it must share the responsibility for this decision. Kamaal has apparently failed to counter PDP on this question while he has ostensibly and intentionally chosen to forget this while hitting out at New Delhi. A political gimmick indeed once again sought to be played by none other than Mustafa Kamaal. |
