| 'Traffic Police lifts vehicles parked at free parking zones..! | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 9: Dictatorial attitude of officers in Traffic wing of state police department has 'earned' sharp criticism from the inhabitants of the winter capital here. The pick and choose method is being applied by the Men in Blue while discharging their duties on city roads. They (traffic cops) are least bothered to first check whether the vehicles are parked at the right place or not, they are just bothered to complete their target of vehicle lifting on the daily basis. Certain shocking instances have come to light, which clearly indicates traffic cops are taking city residents for granted. Yesterday's incident outside the office of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, is a pointer to the fact that how Traffic police personnel are further adding to the problems of the general public. While the two police Buses parked just against the no parking zone board at the rear side of official resident of Chief Minister were ignored, the vehicles parked at the free parking zone were lift without any reason. "At least 100 private vehicles were parked outside the office of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu especially near the Rotary leading towards Circular Road and Gujjar Nagar. There has been clearly written on the walls that too by the order of District Magistrate, Jammu that the said area is free parking zone," pointed out one Surinder Sharma further adding that "despite the vehicles being rightly and safely parked, Traffic Police personnel stopped there and just lifted one of the vehicles from that parking area without any logic." "Soon the owner of the car reached there and inquired about the vehicle. A vendor standing nearby informed the owner that Traffic Police have lifted his vehicle. Surprisingly, the number of other four wheelers parked on the right and left side of the said vehicle were untouched," narrated Sharma. "It is disgusting. If my vehicle was parked in no parking zone, then why the order of District Magistrate, Jammu has been pasted on the walls. Then why other vehicles parked there were not lifted. Just by the left side where my vehicle was parked, there was one Safari Car parked. One Personal Security Officer of a political big wig was also sitting in the car. Why the Traffic police did not dare to lift that vehicle as well," were the volley of questions of a senior citizen S S Jamwal, which still waits an answer from Traffic Police brass. When ET Team visited the site, it witnessed a sea of private vehicles parked on both sides of the said Rotary. All attempts to contact, DIG, Traffic, Jammu, Shakeel Ahmad Baig and SSP Traffic Jammu, Manmohan Singh proved futile. |
