| Flouting rules to favour NC leader in Ganderbal | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Feb 9: Former District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal is under attack for misusing his official position and giving benefits to ruling party leaders in the area to remain in the good books of the Chief Minister for getting himself rehabilitated in the party after relinquishing the office. According to sources, social, political and trade unions in the area are up in arms against the former DC and demanded a thorough probe into his role as DC Ganderbal. According to Mir Ghulam Rasool a senior leader of People’s Conference and a veteran Trade Unionist of the State, his organization in the past had many times made a complaint before the Government that the DDC be transferred from the district as he harasses the activists belonging to other political parties but no body in the Government conceded the request. ``My contentions proved correct after DDC within days of his retirement joined the NC'', he added. Mir said this indicates that there is a nexus between some top politicians in ruling NC and bureaucrats and this is harmful for the future of democracy in the State. Abdul Sattar another trade unionist and social activist from the area said that there is a public outcry against the role of the former DDC and people will take to streets soon for his pro-National Conference role. He said the people will expose him for the wrong doings and working as an agent of the NC instead of as a impartial Government servant. In an appeal to Union Government, he urged strong action against him. It may be recalled that the nexus between politicians and bureaucrats is taking the vitals of the society as it has been the root cause of the malfunctioning of the Government in the State. According to highly placed sources many bureaucrats working on top positions in the State managed to maintain good relations with ruling parties to get themselves rehabilitated in politics and elected as the members of State legislature or become a Minister later. This has been true in case of many former bureaucrats and this time too some of them are members in State legislature. Though joining politics after relinquishing the Government office is in no way against the service rules but what has been witnessed that some bureaucrats misuse their official position to give benefits to politicians to seek their good wishes and get themselves rehabilitated later. |
