JAMMU, Feb 9: Owing to the tense situation in Kashmir Valley, the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) has postponed the State Football Championship which was scheduled to take off at the Winter Capital, here tomorrow. "Considering the inability of most of the departmental team players as also the district units from Kashmir Province to come to Jammu to take part in the mega event, because of the imposition of curfew in Valley aftermath hanging of Afzal Guru, it was decided to postpone the event for time being," an official of the Association told SAN. He further said that soon after the situation is back to normal, fresh dates will be decided for the competition and circulated among the participating teams. "The organizing committee of the JKFA had made all the possible arrangements for the conduct of the state's biggest football event, which is being conducted after two years or so," further said the official. To announce the holding of the championship, a press conference was also arranged by the Association this afternoon. However, the press briefing was cancelled forthwith. |
