| Jora visits Leprosy colony Bhagwati Nagar, Sunjwan | | | early times report
JAMMU, Feb 9: As part of the continuous efforts to beautify Jammu city and make it moreneat and clean, the Minister for Urban Development and Urban Development Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora on Saturday took a whirlwind tour of the Jammu city and inspected several ongoing construction works at various place including Leprosy colony, Bhagwati Nagar and Sunjwan. The Minister while reviewing the facilities being provided to the leprosy affected people living at Leprosy colony, Kusht Ashram was informed that 36 dwelling units have already been handed over to the beneficiaries constructed at a cost of Rs 101.88 lakhs against the total project cost of Rs.143.51 lakhs under JNNURM Scheme. He was further informed that the leprosy affected families have been provided all the basic amenities. Meanwhile, during inspection, a number of local residents of the colony met the Minister and apprised him about problems related to adequate drinking water availability, electricity and other facilities. Jora directed Executive Engineer, Central, JMC to redress the grievances of the locals immediately, so that the residents don't face any inconvenience. The Minister also visited BSUP at Rajiv Nagar, Sunjwan and inspected the pace of progress of 608 dwelling units coming up at a cost of Rs.1424.55 lakhs. He was informed that 64 dwelling units are complete while the construction work on 272 dwelling units is in progress and till now Rs.801 lakhs have been spent against the released funds of Rs.656.43 lakhs. He was also informed that construction of one park and community Hall is also part of the project. The Minister also inspected work on the protection walls and diversion nallah meant for safety and preventing flash floods during heavy rains.
