Sham inaugurates JKBOSE office at Akhnoor

AKHNOOR, Feb 9 : In order to make available education related facilities to the rural students at their doorsteps, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, today inaugurated the branch office of J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) at Akhnoor.
Secretary JKBOSE, Renu Goswami, SDM Akhnoor, Naginder Singh Jamwal, other senior officers of JKBOSE and Education Department, large number of teachers and prominent citizens of Akhnoor were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government was committed to improve the literacy rate and upgrade the educational infrastructure across the State. He said education sector has progressed significantly during the past one decade in the State with serious efforts by the successive governments. The present Government has also been paying focused attention to further improve the education set up in every nook and corner of the State, Sham added.
Appreciating JKBOSE authorities for establishing the branch office in the town, the Minster said that the students of Akhnoor and parts of Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri will avail benefits through the facility. He said besides students, the teachers will also have much relief and now they need not to rush to Jammu for attending the works related to Board office enabling them to focus on the studies exclusively.
On the demand of the Board authorities, the Minister assured that a suitable piece of land will be identified around Akhnoor town for construction of Board's own building. He also assured to provide all necessary support for smooth functioning of Board office at Akhnoor.
Later, the Minister also presided over an annual day function held at Government Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor. The students presented a bonanza of cultural items based on secularism, nationalism, communal harmony and composite culture of State which mesmerized the audience. A number of schools from the adjoining localities also participated in the event. A large number of teachers, students, prominent citizens, government officers and Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present on the occasion.
