| Angry parents, students demand sacking of School management | | DPS tragedy | | Early TImes Report
Jammu, Feb 9: The mounting pent up ire of the students and parents of the Delhi Public School over the tragic death of a seventh standard student at the school premises and stoic, cold silence of the school authorities over the incident was today ventilated in the form of a peaceful protest and presentation of a memorandum to the Governor N N Vohra. In the memorandum, the DPS parents Association have demanded removal of school Principal and transport manager besides registration of police case and implementation of Apex Court guidelines vis-a-vis safety of school children. Large number of parents and school children gathered outside the school gate and staged a sit in dharna shouting slogans against the school management and demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the death of Suruchi Choudhary. Unhappy agitated parents gave vent to their ire over the long absence of school management from the scene. Till date no one from the school have bothered to spare some time to meet representatives of parents association and listen to their genuine grievances. On Saturday large number of students joined the protest march along with their parents from outside the school and marched on foot up to Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum. The school children holding placards Punish 'killers of Suruchi', 'remove killer buses', 'Sack Principal and transport manager for their utter negligence',, 'Is your school= Death' marched through main markets of Jammu city shouting slogans against the DPS school management. Heavy posse of police force marched along the peaceful protestors up to Raj Bhawan and facilitated meeting of the representatives of the Parents Association with the Governor's office. In the absence of Governor NN Vohra the memorandum was handed over to the senior officer of the Raj Bhawan. The members of the Parents Association also claimed that they were trying to meet trustee of the DPS Jammu NC MLC Ajatshatru to apprise him of their grievances and inaction by the school authorities. |
