Jammu, Mar 13:Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh on Thursday appealed PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Sham Lal Sharma to order enquiry into the installation of the deep (mark-2) hand pumps in Samba district where the contractors and officials of Ground Water Department have developed nexus to dup government money. According to press release, the former minister alleged, "There are number of deep water hand pumps in various areas of Samba district with the nexus to misappropriate the money on the name of installation of deep water hand pumps and it should be enquired by the Minister by ordering a full prove investigation." Addressing villagers in Swankha in Vijaypur block of Samba district, Manjit Singh said that these hand pumps are installed in those areas where the resources for drinking water are less but the Ground Water Department has installed the hand pumps in the areas, without any pre-investigation even in those areas where there is no shortage of water.
