Jammu, Mar 13: Minister for Urban Local Bodies and Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora on behalf of Minister for Tourism today informed the House that in order to promote pilgrim tourism in the State, the Government has submitted two projects to the Centre for funding, under which a project report of Rs. 50 crore for developing pilgrim tourism circuit in Jammu and another project report of Rs. 50 crore for developing sufi circuit in Kashmir is under consideration of the Centre adding that once the Central Government gives the nod, necessary tourism developmental works would be taken up in both the divisions. Replying to a question raised by Jagdish Raj Saploia in the House, Jora said that 90 % tourism related works of 4 tourism circuits taken up at cumulative cost of Rs. 20 crore in the State have been completed. He said to promote border tourism in Jammu the necessary tourist related infrastructure at Suchetgarh and Chambliyal have been created. However, he said to upgrade further this infrastructure the Government would submit another project report to the Centre for approval. He said to create tourist related infrastructure at Balisa, the Government has already submitted a project report for funding to the Centre. The Minister said that works to the tune of Rs. 8 crore have been already taken up in Basholi, Dhar Mhanpur, Sanangath, Sialag and Ranjit Sagar Lake for creation of Tourism infrastructure and development of potential spots. He said recently the Centre has also sanctioned another project of Rs. 3.70 crore for development of tourism potential in the area. He said Government would encourage water sports through private partners in the area for which easy loans and subsidy is available G. M Saroori, Lal Chand, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Charanjeet Singh, Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Ashwani Kumar Sharma and Yash Paul Kundal raised supple mentaries on the main question and demanded promotion of tourism activities in their constituencies. |
