| 15 days on, a devastated father looks on for his missing daughter | | | Sana Altaf SRINAGAR, Apr 12: For the past 15 days, every minute of life has been a suffering for Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh. He still can't believe that his three year old daughter Anjum Ghulam is no more with him. He yearns to play with her, take her to market on his back and fulfill her wishes. He roams around his village insanely looking for her daughter but in vain. "Our life has been ruined. I could not even think in the wildest dream that this would ever happen to us," said Sheikh whose daughter went missing on March 30 from Mazhama. Recalling the fateful day, Sheikh said he had taken Anjum to a soothsayer in Mazhama, Budgam as she was keeping unwell. "Anjum has been suffering from persistent fever and was not eating well. I took her to the soothsayer whom we have been visiting for the past seven years." However, Sheikh could not meet the soothsayer because of the rush of people there. He decided to go back home. "We were about to leave and after wearing my shoes, was looking for Anjum's slippers. She was standing near a low wall in the compound." Sheikh was busy finding Anjum's slipper amongst the crowd of people when suddenly she disappeared. "When I found the slipper and went to Anjum, she was not there." The poor father looked around the whole of the community and the village but could not find Anjum. He then filed a missing report at Tangmarg and Magam police stations. Magam police registered a case FIR no: 15/2013 under section 363/RPC in this regard. Police says the investigation of the case is in full swing and has launched a massive manhunt to trace the missing girl. "Every moment of our life is miserable. I have not earned a penny all these days. Our neighbors give us money. Throughout the day I am busy tracing Anjum," adds Sheikh from Tangmarg. Sheikh, who works as a laborer; has a father, wife and six months old son in his family. "Anjum was a brilliant child. She would recite Quran and her lessons so well. I do not know where did she go." Sheikh appeals to the Government and authorities to help him find his missing daughter. It may be recalled here that a three year old boy, Mehraan Latief Mir went missing on May 2008 from Habba Kadal area of Srinagar. The boy is yet to be traced.
