| Mir inaugurates High school Halsidar | | Mounting Peaceful situation abets development in rural, backward areas | | DOORU (ANANTNAG): Minister for Tourism, Mr Ghulam Ahmad Mir today inaugurated formally newly upgraded High School, Halsidar in Dooru. The Middle School Halsidar was recently upgraded by the government for providing secondary education facilities to the students of the area at their door steps. The construction work of the School building would be completed at a cost of Rs. 49 lakh under RAMSA during current financial year. After completion it would add 10 room additional accommodations to the school. Addressing a huge public gathering after inaugurating the school, the Minister said that education is the Vital tool for socio- economic transformation of rural and remote areas and extending of quality education facilities especially in these areas received focused thrust of the government. He said additional accommodation of 10 rooms would be constructed for Halsidar High school at a cost of Rs 60 lakh this financial adding that execution work have been entrusted to R&B department, which has floated tenders and work would be started soon. Tourism Minister said that under the Centre Schemes of RAMSA and SSA hundreds of new schools have been opened and numerous existing schools upgraded at the door steps of the people for providing quality and job oriented education during last over 4 years in the State. He said in this regard tehsil Duroo also gets its due share and at present all most all the areas have educational institutions. He said construction on the additional accommodation of High school buildings at Kreeri, Mantipora, Lisser, Voy, Shangran and Shankarpora is apace. Tourism Minister said that that Duroo is the gate way of Kashmir tourism and several steps have been already taken to give the face lift to the potential areas. He said more spots of the area would be brought on tourism this year which also helps economic growth in the area. The Minister said that mounting peaceful environment in the past two years has contributed to a gush of developmental activities in various spheres. He said that a significant outcome is visible due to flow in the number of tourists arriving in the State. He said that last year, over 13 lakh tourists visited the Valley and over six lakh pilgrims undertook the Shri Amarnathji Yatra. He said the Ladakh region also received a good number of tourists. In Jammu region, over one crore pilgrims undertook the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji Yatra last year, he added. The Minister said that public empowerment to ensure area specific development and involve people’s representatives in decision making at grass roots level through Panchayati Raj system has already began. “We have conducted Panchayat elections after a period of about 30 years. He said the government has empowered these ground level institutions so that these are able to make decisions and launch public welfare schemes in their areas. The Minister apprised the people about the historic Public Service Guarantee Act enacted and implemented by the government to make public service delivery time bound. He told the people that if they will not receive the prescribed service within the prescribed time limit, the erring officials will be fined up to Rs. 5000 and a part of that fine is paid to the affected consumer. The Minister asked the people to take best advantage of this path breaking initiative of the government and demand public service from the departments of Power, PHE, CAPD, Revenue, Housing, Transport, etc. in a prescribed time limit fixed for the delivery of each service. |
