Introduction of agri- techniques helps farmers to get maximum returns: Mir

jammu, Apr 24: Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that the government is making all out efforts to improve the agriculture sector by introducing latest Agri-techniques for enabling the farmers to get maximum returns from their land.
This was disclosed by the Minister during the review meeting of the officers of the Agriculture department of Jammu Division at Krishi Bhawan Jammu.
Commissioner Agriculture Production Department Mr Asgar Hussain Samoon was also present.
While interacting with the officers, the Minister said that the main aim of the meeting was to review the effectiveness of the Department and get the feedback of the field problems faced by the officers and farmers in implementation of various state and centrally sponsored schemes.
The Minister impressed upon the officers to formulate the proposals with 40% material component and 60% labour component in agriculture that may be taken up with Rural Development Department under MGNAREGA to provide employment generation opportunities for the farmers. He further directed the officers to implement the Various CSS Schemes strictly as per the guidelines. He also directed the Joint Directors and other officers to frequently visit the field and properly monitor the implementation of schemes and programmes run for the farmers.
Mr. Mir also proposed a scheme for awarding the officers who work appreciably for the socio-economic development of the farmers. He also stressed to introduce video confere-ncing facility up to district level for on line feedback and development monitoring. He patiently listened the problems field functionaries and assured them to try to solve them in a phased manner.
However the Minister congratulated the officers for achieving some milestones in the Agriculture sector such as making the seed, fertilizer, innovative machinery and other inputs at the door step of the farmers during the last few years.
Mr Samoon while addressing the officers directed them to compile the data of every district which would help in formulation of Agriculture Policy. He stressed the need for diversification of agriculture so that the farmer could get good returns. He also directed the officers to project the field problems at all levels so that they can be addressed timely in the interest of the farming community.
Director Agriculture Jammu Mr. Ajay Khajuria, while giving the details of the schemes revealed that Rs 734.13 lacs expended under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, Rs 196.013 lacs under ATMA, Rs 543.294 lacs under National Food Security Mission and Rs. 1905.512 lacs was made under other Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) during the year 2012-13. All the chief Agriculture Officers gave the detail of various schemes and programmes implemented in their respective Districts.
Joint Directors of Agriculture, Sectoral Heads, District Agriculture Officers and Sub- Divisional Agriculture Officers from all over the Jammu division attended the meeting.
