BARAMULLA: To promote Agriculture Sector incentive worth Rs. 77 lakhs have been provided to the farmers of district Baramulla for upgrading the irrigation infrastructure, protected cultivation, farm mechanization & organic farming. This was informed during a review meeting and chaired by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mr. Mushtaq Peerzada here today. Among others Chief Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Extension Officers, Junior Agriculture Extension Officers and Rehbar-e-Zirats participated in the meeting. Director Agriculture on the occasion said that self sufficiency in food grains production & vegetables will directly boost the economic profile of farming community. He called improving the efficiency for boosting the agriculture production & productivity in view of limited land sources available in the Valley. He directed officers & officials to make farmers aware about the schemes, implementation of which will help in increasing production, productivity and economic status of farming community. He impressed upon the officers to frame annual development plans at Panchayat level in accordance to the need of particular area, so that benefits percolate to the ground level. He said that the Panchayats should be taken on board while implementing the agriculture schemes. He urged the officials to transfer technology from lab & land and mechanization of farms. He further stressed field functionaries to be farmer friendly and achieve fixed targets in letter and spirit, for which they will be rewarded, while action will be taken against the defaulters. He urged officers to ensure distribution of Kissan Credit Cards (KCC) among the farmers and impressed upon the officers to complete the target of distribution of KCC within the prescribed time frame. As many as 3 bore-wells, 29 tube wells, 487 poly green houses, 10 vermi-compost units, 12 pack houses were established, besides 102 tractors, 142 power tillers, 452 irrigation pump sets were distributed among farmers in the district, the meeting was informed. |
