Manohar lays foundation stone of Panchayat Ghars

KATHUA: To equip the Panchayati Raj Institutions with necessary infrastructure Minister of State for Cooperative, Printing, Stationery and Elections Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today laid foundation stone of Panchayat Ghars at Gurahkalyal-B in Dramani and Lower Dungra in Kishanpur Dungra in tehsil Billawar of District Kathua.
These building will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 lacs under MGNERGA and 13 Financial Commission aided funds.
Dr Sharma said that devolution of decision making power to the Panchayat Raj Institutions is bringing positive results and developmental activities get a boost with the active participation of the people. He exhorted people to work in coordination with the elected representatives of Panchayats for the socio- economic development of their respective areas. Dr Sharma said that government is making all efforts to provide better road connectivity to far off areas across that state for which a network of roads has been started under PMGSY, adding that to ensure the inter connectivity of all the villages, more roads will be constructed through NABARD.
Various representatives of adjoining areas of Dramani, Seri moon and Kishanpur Dungra projected various problems and demands before the Minister which includes early completion of connectivity roads, repairs of Kools, water supply schemes, up gradation of school, shortage of teaching staff, hands pumps, shortage of ration, supply of electric poles, replace old water pipes, compensation of land under roads, opening of veterinary hospital and Primary health centers.
Responding to the demands put forth by the various representatives of their areas Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma assured that their demands will be considered on priority.
Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma directed the PDD department to install electric poles on priority. The Minister also directed the PHE department to ensure water supply to remaining families of the area. He also directed the executing agency to complete the ongoing projects in stipulated time frame.
The Minister asked the officers to work with honesty and dedication and come up to the expectation of the people and mitigate their problems. He stressed on regular monitoring and proper quality management.
Dr, Manohar Lal Sharma appealed the people to come forward to avail benefits of the various state and centrally sponsored schemes like MNREGA, IAY, NRHM etc.
Among others Assistant Director Fisheries, Kathua Dy Registrar Cooperative, Kathua, Tehsildar, Billawar, BDO, Billawar SDPO, Basholi, AEEs, PHE, PDD, Sarpanch, Panch, tehsil and Block level officer and large number of the people were present on the occasion.
