| Adopt poor children in pvt schools: Dy CM | | Attends annual prize distribution day of JK School Panjtirthi | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 28: Underscoring on providing quality education to students, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand said that the government endeavors to universalize school education and exemplary initiatives have been taken to further the cause of education in the state. He said private education institutions are doing a commendable job in the field of imparting quality value based education to the students. “Private Schools are doing a commendable job in the field of education but besides imparting quality education to their wards they should also step forward to share social responsibility by adopting talented poor children of society and give such students an opportunity to excel in life,” he appealed. Mr. Tara Chand was addressing a jam packed gathering on the Annual Prize Distribution Day of JK Public School Panjtirthi, here today. He was chief guest on the occasion. The event was orgnaised at the Nelsum Exquisite Millennium Hall in JK Public School Complex, Kunjwani. Chairman, JK Education Society Mr. Raj Daluja, eminent educationists, prominent citizens and parents attended the function. Principal Mrs. Suman Bamba presented resume of activities of the school. Underlining role of private institutions in imparting quality education, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the school is doing a commendable job and students of the school have proven their worth in both curricular as well as extracurricular activities. He said proper stress is laid for all round development of the wards by way of a balanced school curriculum. Stressing on rational fee structure in private schools, Mr. Tara Chand said that immediately after taking charge of the education department directions were issued for constitution of a high level committee under the Chairmanship of a retired Judge of High Court for reviewing and fixing the fee structure for private schools in the State, adding that the Committee will also examine whether the private schools are charging any capitation fee and indulging in profiteering. He said recently the said committee has been framed under the chairmanship of former Chief Justice Orissa High Court Justice (Retd.) Bilal A. Nazki. Describing schools as temples of learning, the Deputy Chief Minister said teaching is a noble profession and schools spread light of knowledge in society. He said after learning a student goes on to become prime minister, able jurist, IAS, doctor, engineer or scientist but the teacher remains a teacher and keeps on spreading light of knowledge in society. On the occasion the students presented different cultural and sports activities, which were well applauded by the audience. Aerobic, cultural, yoga, martial arts and sports acrobat items were star attraction of the event. Prizes were distributed among those who had excelled in different activities. |
