SRINAGAR: The Government would seek an amount of Rs. 568.92 crore under State Plan Assistance (SPA) for completion of on-going projects for R&B sector in the State. The decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Minister for R&B Mr. Abdul Majid Wani convened here today to finalize the proposal under SPA. The Minister said that Planning Commission of India has introduced SPA as a source of funding for the State Plan envisaging taking up limited number of schemes in a Projectization mode for time bound completion. He directed the concerned for strict adherence to the guidelines introduced by the Planning Commission of India for availing the financial support under SPA. Terming R&B as an important sector, Mr. Wani said the Government has embarked upon a plan for construction of more alternative road links, adding that these links would remove the congestion in urban areas and provide adequate road connectivity to rural populace as well. The Minister expressed satisfaction over the works done under PMGSY and said that it had brought transformation of road communication in rural areas. It was informed in the meeting that in Jammu Division, over 200 schemes would be completed within next two months under PMGSY. As many as 154 bridges and 34 schemes under Central Road Funding (CRF) have also been completed so far. The meeting was informed that 90 per cent construction work on prestigious Mughal Road project has been completed while as work on some vital bridges are going on. Among others, Commissioner Secretary R&B Mrs. Tanveer Jehan, Chief Engineer, R&B Jammu Mr. Tahseen Mustafa, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Jammu Mr. Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kashmir, Mr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad Hamal, Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department, Kashmir, Mr. Shafat Ahmad Chishti besides officers from Jammu Divisions and Directorate of Design attended the meeting. |
