| CS reviews land records modernization; 15 modern record rooms being set up, 11 completed | | | SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Khandey Wednesday chaired a meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Land Records Management Agency (JaKLaRMA) to discuss the issues related to implementation of land record modernization programme and strengthening of revenue administration in the State. The Chief Secretary said that computerization of land records is an important aspect under the modernization programme to improve record keeping, public centric e- service, settlement and other issues adding that the process should be fast tracked. He said modern record rooms being established at Tehsil, sub division and Niabat levels should be completed at the earliest and training and capacity building of revenue functionaries be undertaken in all districts. The meeting also approved Bye laws related to the agency for its effective functioning on the ground. The objectives and functions of the agency include taking initiatives for complete digitization of land records, strengthening of revenue administration, updating of land records and facilitating training and capacity building, providing technical assistance to create, organize, maintain centralized data of land records etc. The meeting was informed that construction of 15 modern record rooms has been taken up out of which 11 have been completed. Moreover, 1719 villages have already been surveyed out of 7055 villages and for 743 villages’ complete computerized integrated ROR have been prepared. Similarly, 278 basic revenue functionaries have been trained for updating serving land records to fill the basic register. It was informed that the Union Government has released Rs. 5.89 crore for 7 districts for survey/resurvey, registration and establishment of modern record rooms during the last fiscal. The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Revenue, Mr. Arun Kumar, Principal Secretary Planning and Development, Mr. B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. B. B. Viyas, Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and other senior officers. |
